90_SR0101 LRB9006683KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Elizabeth Donovan of Swansea, 4 Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Betty" Donovan was born in East St. 6 Louis, Illinois on May 31, 1932; her parents were Richard and 7 Regina Powell; and 8 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Donovan was retired as the liaison in 9 the Comptroller Office for the State of Illinois; Ms. Donovan 10 served as president of St. Cyril's Mothers Club, served in 11 Holy Angels Mothers Club, Ladies Auxiliary AOH-Division 1, 12 within St. Clair County and the State, and as a National 13 Historian; she was a member of the Auxiliary of Knights of 14 Columbus 592; she served with the Caseyville Township 15 Democratic Club as its president; she was a member of the 16 National Federation of Democratic Women; she attended a 17 briefing session at the White House under the administration 18 of President Carter; and she was a delegate to the National 19 Democratic Convention in 1984 and 1988; and 20 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Donovan is survived by her son, 21 Michael L. Donovan; her three daughters, Deborah and her 22 husband Danny McEwing, Dorothy and her husband Royce 23 Carlisle, and Sarah J. Donovan; her three grandchildren, 24 Shawn Donovan, Colleen Carlisle, and Andrea Carlisle; her 25 sisters Mary Jean Ring, Patricia Webbe, and Margie Bailey; 26 her great aunt Mary Brooks; many nieces, nephews, cousins, 27 and her special friend Betty Martz; therefore, be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 29 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her 30 family and friends, the death of Elizabeth Donovan of 31 Swansea, Illinois; and be it further -2- LRB9006683KBkb 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Elizabeth Donovan, along with our 3 sincere condolences.
