90_SR0148 LRB9009199CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Mrs. Janet Marie Neely Cooper on Monday, 4 January 19, 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, She was to the union of Mrs. Katherine Kenney 6 Neely and the late Mr. Clifton Neely; and 7 WHEREAS, She attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary 8 School, Lincoln Senior High School, and attended Tennessee 9 State University; she received a Bachelor's Degree from 10 Southern Illinois University; she was employed by School 11 District 189 as a Special Educator Teacher at Nelson Mandela 12 Middle School; and 13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Cooper served the Wesley-Bethel United 14 Methodist Church, the choir, the usher board, and the United 15 Methodist Women Club-Sub Group Mary; and 16 WHEREAS, She was a volunteer for a total of 25 years at 17 Christian Welfare Hospital in East Saint Louis and later at 18 Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; she was a 19 member of the Violet Thimble Federated Club of Illinois, the 20 East St. Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and 21 the Economic Development Commitee; and 22 WHEREAS, She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Senator 23 James Franklin Clayborne; her daughter, Mrs. Cheri Patrice 24 Smith; her daughter-in-law, Staci; her son-in-law, Gary; her 25 mother, Mrs. Katherine Kenney Brown; her grandchildren, James 26 Franklin, Joseph Anthony, Justin Aaron, Adam Thornton, and 27 Amanda Marie; her sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Thomas and Mrs. 28 Katherine Stubblefield; her brother, Clifton; her uncles, 29 James, Earl, Roy, Howard; her aunts, Dorothy Austin, Beatrice 30 Neely, and Reba Kenney; and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Frances 31 Clayborne; therefore, be it -2- LRB9009199CBcb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our sincere 3 condolences to the family of Mrs. Janet Marie Neely Cooper; 4 and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to Senator James F. Clayborne and to Mrs. Cheri 7 Smith.
