90_SR0170 LRB9011813KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Colleen Kasting of Mundelein, 4 Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Colleen Kasting was born in Chicago, Illinois on 6 March 17, 1935; Colleen Kasting served the Village of 7 Mundelein for twenty-one years as the Village Clerk; she was 8 a member and past president of the Municipal Clerks of Lake 9 County, a member of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois, and the 10 founder of the Distinguished Clerk Award in Lake County; and 11 WHEREAS, Colleen Kasting was a volunteer and room mother 12 at Santa Maria Del Popolo School; she was involved in the 13 religious education program and taught catechism at the high 14 school level; she also served the church as a eucharistic 15 minister; and 16 WHEREAS, She was involved in the Cub Scouts and Boy 17 Scouts and served as a Girl Scout Leader; she was a member of 18 the Mother's Club at Carmel High School; when the Mother's 19 and Father's Club merged, she became the president of the 20 Parent's Club; she was founder of the Tony Gaida Scholarship 21 at Carmel High School; she brought the concept of "Street 22 Scenes" to Carmel High School and was a regular participant 23 in the yearly event; and 24 WHEREAS, Colleen Kasting was the originator of the "Taste 25 of Mundelein", which was celebrated during the Fourth of 26 July; for eighteen years she designed the float for the 27 Village of Mundelein that was also a part of the Fourth of 28 July celebration; she aided in the formation of the 29 Beautification Committee in Mundelein and was involved with 30 Project C.A.P.E.; and 31 WHEREAS, Colleen Kasting is survived by her husband, John -2- LRB9011813KBkb 1 Kasting; her sons, Thomas and his wife, Barbara, Matthew, 2 Peter and his wife Marge Paulsen, and Paul; her daughters, 3 Mary Melius and her husband, Glen, Nancy Zumbo, Catherine 4 Kasting, and Gail Brant and her husband Christopher; her 5 brother, Patrick Henry Waters and his wife, Noreen, and her 6 grandchildren, Susan, Sara, Katy, Christian, Gretchen, 7 Benjamin, and Aaron; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 9 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her 10 family and friends, the death of Colleen Kasting of 11 Mundelein, Illinois; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Colleen Kasting, along with our 14 deepest condolences.
