90_SR0193 LRB9012056KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Russell J. Floyd Sr., of South 4 Jacksonville, Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Russell Floyd was born in Harvel, Illinois on 6 August 5, 1917; his parents were Isaac Eugene and Minnie 7 Leonard Floyd; on September 9, 1947 he married Darline V. 8 Hunt in Springfield, Illinois; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Floyd served in the United States Army 10 Infantry as an anti-aircraft machine gunner assigned to 11 General Patton's tank corps in World War II; while serving in 12 the Army, Mr. Floyd was awarded the Purple Heart; and 13 WHEREAS, In 1985 Mr. Floyd retired from J.C. Penney and 14 Co. in Jacksonville, where he worked fifteen years as a floor 15 supervisor; he had previously worked for Midland Farm and 16 Home, Sears, and Montgomery Ward; and 17 WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Russell J. Floyd Sr. is 18 survived by his son, Isaac Eugene and his wife, Patricia; his 19 daughter, Tamara Jo Braner and her husband, Danny; four 20 grandchildren; and his brother, Raymond; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 22 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Russell 23 J. Floyd Sr., of South Jacksonville; we extend our sincere 24 sympathies to his family and friends; and be it further 25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 26 presented to the family of Russell J. Floyd Sr.
