1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate is saddened to learn of the
3 death of Mr. Sam Curtis "Boon" Greer; and
4 WHEREAS, Mr. Greer came to East St. Louis, Illinois at an
5 early age; he was employed as a custodian with School
6 District 189 from 1965 until his retirement; and
7 WHEREAS, At an early age Mr. Greer was baptized at First
8 Baptist Church in Wahalak, Mississippi; he was a member of
9 New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Collinsville, Illinois,
10 under the late Reverend James Clayborne; Mr. Greer later
11 united with Pilgrim Temple Baptist Church under the pastorage
12 of Reverend Mack Lemons; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Greer is survived by his son, James Gray
14 Greer; his daughter, Marjorie Murray and her husband,
15 Timothy; his granddaughter, Marjorie Louise Jones; his
16 sisters, Minevar Ramsey, Mattie Jones and her husband,
17 Robert, Inez Dent and her husband, Lee, and Helen Hunter; his
18 brothers, Gus Greer and his wife, Margaret, Henry Greer and
19 his wife, Mary, and Tommy C. Greer; his aunt, Ruth Ulmer; and
20 many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins,
21 and friends; therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
23 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his
24 family and friends, the death of Mr. Sam Curtis "Boon" Greer;
25 may they find peace and solace at this time of need; and be
26 it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Mr. Sam Greer.
