90_SR0227 LRB9012400KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Audrey LaRue Jones; and 4 WHEREAS, Audrey LaRue Jones was born in Kosiusko, 5 Mississippi on February 7, 1943; her parents were Mr. and 6 Mrs. Henry Curtis Redmond; she gave her life to Christ at an 7 early age and continued to serve Him throughout her life; on 8 December 23, 1966, she married Elmer David Jones; and 9 WHEREAS, Audrey LaRue Jones was a graduate of Tipton 10 Street High School in Kosiusko; she received her Bachelor's 11 degree from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi 12 and her Master's degree from Indiana State University; and 13 WHEREAS, Audrey LaRue Jones was a Sunday School teacher, 14 Usher Board member, and a faithful member at Wesley Bethel 15 United Methodist Church; she was a member and past officer of 16 Jack and Jill of America; she was a member of the St. Clair 17 County Teachers' Union; she was a participant in the Diabetic 18 Prevention Program at St. Louis Children's Hospital; and 19 WHEREAS, Audrey LaRue Jones taught in the Memphis Public 20 School before her marriage; she then taught at Martin Luther 21 King Jr. High School; she was currently teaching at East St. 22 Louis Sr. High School; Mrs. Jones will be remembered for her 23 love of her students and children; and 24 WHEREAS, Audrey LaRue Jones is survived by her husband, 25 Elmer David Jones; her daughter, Kimberly Annette; her son, 26 Curtis Marquis; her two brothers, Henry Redmond and his wife, 27 Cora, and Jerry Redmond and his wife, Ellen Bessell; her 28 brothers-in-law, Frederick Jones and his wife, Catherine, 29 Charles Jones, Jesse Jones, Robert Jones, and Ronald Jones; 30 her sisters-in-law, Selma Clemons, and Karen Brown and her 31 husband, Robert; her godchildren, Robert D. Bailey, Mitree -2- LRB9012400KBkb 1 Jenkins, and Tikki Austin; her aunts, Annie Ethel Dancy and 2 Samantha Redmond; her adopted family, Lorine N. Purham and 3 family; her many nieces, nephews, cousins, students, 4 co-workers, church family, and friends; therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 6 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her 7 family and friends, the death of Audrey LaRue Jones of East 8 St. Louis, Illinois; may they find a measure of comfort in 9 this time of loss; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Audrey LaRue Jones.
