 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death of Margaret O. "Peggy" Alison of Peoria on  July
 4    4, 1998; and
 5        WHEREAS,  She  was  born  on  April  25,  1942 in Muncie,
 6    Indiana, the daughter  of  John  C.  and  Margaret  M.  Marsh
 7    Oesterle;   she  received  her  bachelor's  degree  from  the
 8    University of Denver in l964; and
 9        WHEREAS, She was a legislative assistant for Senator Carl
10    Hawkinson in the District Office in Peoria; previous to  that
11    she    had    worked   for   Representative   David   Leitch,
12    Representative Fred Tuerk,  and  the  late  Senator  Prescott
13    Bloom; and
14        WHEREAS, She was the first woman elected as an officer of
15    the  Chicago  Board  of  Trade  in  1976; she was a member of
16    Peoria  Senior  Citizens  Commission  and  Daughters  of  the
17    American Revolution, a founding member of Peoria  Chapter  of
18    Soroptimist  International  where she received the 1998 Woman
19    of Distinction Award, a member of  Peoria  County  Republican
20    Women's  Organization  and  the  Second Ward Republican Men's
21    Ward, and a board member of Gamma Phi Beta House  at  Bradley
22    University and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Peoria; and
23        WHEREAS,  Her  passing  will be deeply felt by her family
24    and friends, especially her husband, Jefferson;  her  father,
25    John;   her   stepsons,   Jeff,   James,   and  Stephen;  her
26    stepdaughter, Kathryn Fox; her brother, John K. Oesterle; and
27    four stepgrandchildren; therefore, be it
28        RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
29    OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
30    the death of Margaret  O.  Alison  and  wish  to  extend  our
31    sincere  condolences  to  her  family  and friends; and be it

 2        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 3    presented to her husband, Jefferson Alison.
