1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Murray Branch, brother of Senator Earlean
4 Collins; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born on September 12, 1931, one of
6 several brothers and sisters; after the death of his father
7 when he was a young lad, he assumed the responsibility of
8 caring for his younger brothers and sisters; and
9 WHEREAS, He was always willing to give a helping hand to
10 anyone; he was well liked and respected in his community,
11 especially in the western suburbs of Chicago where he lived
12 since the age of 15; and
13 WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Army
14 during the Korean War and a Veteran of Foreign Wars; and
15 WHEREAS, He was retired from the Leaf Brand Candy
16 Company, where he was a foreman; during his tenure with the
17 company, he was instrumental in the recruitment of many
18 minority employees; when the company moved from Chicago, he
19 championed the fight for benefits for displaced employees;
20 and
21 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
22 and friends, especially his wife, Ollie Mae; six children;
23 ten grandchildren; and a host of brothers and sisters,
24 including Senator Earlean Collins; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
26 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
27 the death of Murray Branch and extend our most sincere
28 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to his widow, Ollie Mae Branch.
