90_SR0250 LRB9013350CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of John Latonis of Pana on Sunday, October 4, 4 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born in Springfield on November 19, 1914, 6 the son of Anton and Lucy Vilkas Latonis; he married Jennie 7 R. Viola in 1950 and she preceded him in death in 1991; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Latonis was a self-employed carpenter and 9 had also been employed for two years as a coal miner, six 10 years on the railroad, and was an accordion teacher for 11 fifteen years in Springfield; and 12 WHEREAS, A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Latonis 13 was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Pana; he was formerly 14 a member of St. Peter's in Petersburg, Knights of Columbus 15 Sangamon Valley of Petersburg, Springfield Musician Union 16 Local 19-675, and was leader of his own band, The John 17 Latonis Combo; and 18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 19 and friends, especially his son, Thomas R. Latonis; 20 therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 22 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret 23 the death of John Latonis and extend our sincere condolences 24 to his family and friends; and be it further 25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 26 presented to Thomas R. Latonis.
