90_SR0272 LRB9013655CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Dr. Lucille Hudlin McClelland of St. Louis on 4 Saturday, October 31, 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and moved 6 with her family to St. Louis when she was 11; she graduated 7 from the Lincoln School for Nurses in New York in 1942, 8 attended Columbia University, received her bachelor's degree 9 from Washington University, and earned a master's degree and 10 a doctorate from St. Louis University; and 11 WHEREAS, In 1968, she was appointed dean of the school of 12 nursing at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where 13 she remained until 1982, when she retired and opened the 14 Center for Skills Development; and 15 WHEREAS, She served with many organizations, including 16 the St. Louis Council on Human Relations and was also on the 17 board of Montessori Nursery School; and 18 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 19 and friends, especially her daughters, Margaret Wagner, 20 Myrtle Dickson, Vicki Tyler, and Lorna Carter; her sons, 21 Norman Ross and Anthony Ross; her brothers, Dr. Irving 22 Hudlin, Dr. Edward Hudlin, Dr. Russell Hudlin Sr., and Dr. 23 Richard Hudlin; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; 24 therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 26 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret 27 the death of Dr. Lucille Hudlin McClelland and extend our 28 sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it 29 further 30 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 31 presented to the family of Dr. Lucille Hudlin McClelland.
