90_SR0286 LRB9013815CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Judge Wilmer E. Gierach of Palos Heights on 4 Friday, January 8, 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, Born on a farm near Cedarburg, Wisconsin, he 6 worked his way through the University of Wisconsin and DePaul 7 University College of Law; and 8 WHEREAS, He opened a law office in Oak Lawn in 1949; the 9 office grew into the firm of Gierach, Stambulis and 10 Schussler; over the years he was municipal attorney for a 11 number of suburbs, including Oak Lawn, Alsip, Berwyn, and 12 Chicago Ridge; and 13 WHEREAS, In 1978, he became a judge and served in the 14 Markham courthouse; he was a firm believer in education and 15 the need to intervene early when it came to young dropouts 16 who appeared before him; and 17 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 18 and friends, especially his wife, Dorothy; his son, James; 19 his daughters, Sharon Schussler, Beverly Siemers, Marilyn 20 Horine, and Marcia Matejka; his grandchildren, Brian, 21 Deborah, Julia, Laura, Billy, Tim, Jennifer, Heather, Jason, 22 Tracy, Tiffany, Angela, and Ashley; his brothers, Harold, 23 Ferdinand, and Elroy; and his sister, Bernice Lampe; 24 therefore, be it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 26 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret 27 the death of Judge Wilmer E. Gierach and extend our sincere 28 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to his widow, Dorothy Gierach.
