ACEVEDO-LOPEZ.

(DELEO-CULLERTON)

   720 ILCS 5/3-3            from Ch. 38, par. 3-3                             

        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Makes a  technical  change  in      
   provisions regarding multiple prosecutions for the same act.                
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          720 ILCS 5/3-3                                                       
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          720 ILCS 5/32-5                 from Ch. 38, par. 32-5               
        Deletes the title  and  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.      
   Amends  the  Criminal  Code  of 1961.  Increases the penalty for false      
   personation of an attorney or public officer, or public employee  from      
   a Class B misdemeanor to a Class 4 felony.

          There may be an increase in judicial workloads; impact on the        
          need for the number of judges cannot be determined.                  
          FISCAL NOTE, H-AM 1 (Dept. of Corrections)                           
          The fiscal impact for this bill will be minimal.                     
          CORRECTIONAL NOTE, H-AM 1                                            
          No change from DOC fiscal note.                                      
          STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE, H-AM 1                                   
          HB759, with H-am 1, fails to create a State mandate.                 
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                 
        Deletes  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.   Amends   the      
   Criminal  Code  of  1961.  Provides that it is a Class 4 felony (now a      
   Class B misdemeanor) for a person  to  falsely  represent  himself  or      
   herself  to be an attorney authorized to practice law for the purposes      
   of compensation or consideration.  The offense does  not  apply  to  a      
   person  who  unintentionally  fails  to pay attorney registration fees      
   established by Supreme Court Rule.
