BOLAND. 215 ILCS 5/370g from Ch. 73, par. 982g Amends the Health Care Reimbursement Reform Act of 1985 in the Illinois Insurance Code. Changes the definition of "emergency" to a medical condition of recent onset and severity that would lead a prudent layperson to believe that urgent, immediate, or unscheduled medical care is required (instead of an accidental bodily injury or emergency condition that reasonably requires the beneficiary or insured to seek immediate medical care under circumstances or at locations that reasonably preclude the person from obtaining needed medical care from a preferred provider). Provides that determination of the patient's need for emergency care shall be based upon the symptoms and condition at the time the patient is initially examined by the physician. 98-02-17 H FILED WITH CLERK 98-02-17 H FIRST READING 98-02-17 H REFERRED TO HOUSE RULES COMMITTEE RULES 99-01-12 H SESSION SINE DIE END OF INQUIRY Full Text Bill Summary
