KLEMM-HENDON-GARCIA AND DILLARD. (PARKE-MCGUIRE-MCKEON-SMITH,MICHAEL-ERWIN) 35 ILCS 200/15-172 Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that if an applicant for the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption fails to file the application in a timely manner and the failure to file was due to a mental or physical condition sufficiently severe so as to render the applicant incapable of filing the application in a timely manner, the Chief County Assessment Officer may extend the filing deadline for a period of 30 days after the applicant regains the capability to file the application, but in no case may the filing deadline be extended beyond 3 months of the original filing deadline. Requires the applicant to provide the Chief County Assessment Officer with a signed statement from the applicant's physician stating the nature and extent of the condition, that, in the physician's opinion, the condition was so severe that it rendered the applicant incapable of filing the application in a timely manner, and the date on which the applicant regained the capability to file the application. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the provisions concerning the extension of filing deadlines for applicants who were ill shall apply only in counties having fewer than 3,000,000 inhabitants. 97-01-22 S FIRST READING 97-01-22 S REFERRED TO SENATE RULES COMMITTEE RULES 97-01-22 S ASSIGNED TO COMMITTEE REVENUE 97-01-30 S POSTPONED 97-02-06 S AMENDMENT NO. 01-REVENUE S 97-02-06 S ADOPTED 97-02-06 S DO PASS AS AMENDED 008-000-000 SREV 97-02-06 S PLACED ON CALENDAR ORDER OF 2ND READING 97-02-26 97-02-26 S SECOND READING 97-02-26 S PLACED ON CALENDAR ORDER OF 3RD READING 97-02-27 97-02-27 S ADDED AS A CHIEF CO-SPONSOR HENDON 97-02-27 S ADDED AS A CHIEF CO-SPONSOR GARCIA 97-02-27 S ADDED AS A CO-SPONSOR DILLARD 97-02-27 S THIRD READING - PASSED 057-000-000 97-02-27 H ARRIVE IN HOUSE 97-02-27 H PLACED CALENDAR ORDER OF FIRST READING 97-03-05 H HOUSE SPONSOR PARKE 97-03-07 H FIRST READING 97-03-07 H REFERRED TO HOUSE RULES COMMITTEE RULES 97-03-11 H ASSIGNED TO COMMITTEE REVENUE 97-04-09 H ADDED AS A JOINT SPONSOR MCGUIRE 97-04-24 H ADDED AS A JOINT SPONSOR MCKEON 97-04-24 H ADDED AS A JOINT SPONSOR SMITH,MICHAEL 97-05-01 H ADDED AS A JOINT SPONSOR ERWIN 97-05-08 H DO PASS/SHORT DEBATE 011-000-000 HREV 97-05-08 H PLACED CALENDAR 2ND READING-SHORT DEBATE 97-05-09 H SECOND READING-SHORT DEBATE 97-05-09 H PLCD CAL ORDER 3RD READING-SHORT DEBATE 97-05-12 H THIRD READING/SHORT DEBATE/PASSED 117-000-000 97-05-12 S PASSED BOTH HOUSES 97-06-10 S SENT TO THE GOVERNOR 97-08-01 S GOVERNOR VETOED 97-10-16 S PLACED CALENDAR TOTAL VETO OCTOBER 28, 1997 97-10-30 S MOTION FILED OVERRIDE GOVERNOR VETO KLEMM 97-10-30 S 3/5 VOTE REQUIRED 97-10-30 S OVERRIDE GOVERNOR VETO - SENATE PASSED 053-002-000 97-10-30 H ARRIVE IN HOUSE 97-10-30 H PLACED CALENDAR TOTAL VETO NOVEMBER 12, 1997 97-11-12 H MOTION FILED OVERRIDE GOVERNOR VETO #1/PARKE 97-11-12 H PLACED CALENDAR TOTAL VETO 97-11-13 H 3/5 VOTE REQUIRED 97-11-13 H OVERRIDE GOVERNOR VETO - HOUSE PASSED 118-000-000 97-11-13 S BOTH HOUSES OVERRIDE TOTAL VETO 97-11-18 S EFFECTIVE DATE 97-11-13 97-11-18 S PUBLIC ACT.............................. 90-0523 END OF INQUIRY Full Text Bill Summary
