DONAHUE-DEMUZIO. (WIRSING-BOST-WOOLARD-WINKEL) 5 ILCS 375/10 from Ch. 127, par. 530 Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971. Provides that the cost of participation in the basic program of group health benefits for the dependent or survivor of a living or deceased retired employee who was formerly employed by the University of Illinois in the Cooperative Extension Service and would be an annuitant but for the fact that he or she was made ineligible to participate in the State Universities Retirement System by clause (4) of subsection (a) of Section 15-107 of the Illinois Pension Code shall not be greater than the cost of participation that would otherwise apply to that dependent or survivor if he or she were the dependent or survivor of an annuitant under the State Universities Retirement System. Also makes technical corrections. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE No effect on accrued liabilities or annual cost of SURS; health insurance premiums for dependents or survivors of UofI Cooperative Extension Service would increase by an estimated $70,000 in FY1999. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 3. Provides that the State shall pay the amount of the reduction in the cost of participation, if any, resulting from this amendatory Act of 1998. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 4. Adds reference to: 5 ILCS 375/3 from Ch. 127, par. 523 40 ILCS 5/15-135.1 new Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 and the Illinois Pension Code to allow certain participants in the State Universities Retirement System to elect to forgo certain changes in the retirement annuity formula made by Public Act 90-65 and thereby avoid the additional cost of group health insurance imposed under that Public Act.
