Short description: SCH CD-BUILDING STANDARDS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Provides that as an integral part of the State's primary responsibility for financing an efficient system of high quality public education, the State shall assure funding for school districts at levels that enable all school districts to educate their students in school buildings and facilities that meet minimum State and federal housing construction and environmental standards. Provides that the duty includes ensuring health and safety standards through the repair, renovation, alteration, and construction of certain facilities. Requires the State Superintendent of Education to report annually on the conditions of school buildings and facilities and related matters and to recommend a timetable for necessary repairs or construction. Requires all public school buildings and facilities to be in compliance with minimum State and federal housing construction and environmental standards within 5 years. Effective immediately.
