House Sponsors: HOEFT. Short description: POLICE TRAINING-APPROVE SCHOOL Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that the policy to improve law enforcement training includes providing that training to civilian personnel. Provides that a criminal justice program or police training curriculum at a public college is an approved police training school. Provides that a recruit or a "trainee" means any person (now any full-time or part-time law enforcement officer or county corrections officer) who is enrolled in an approved training course. Provides that the provisions concerning course certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board also apply to trainees. Effective January 1, 1998.
