SCH CD-BACKGROUND CHECKS                                                   

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the School Code.  Prohibits school boards  from  knowingly      
   employing persons who, in proceedings under Article II of the Juvenile      
   Court  Act of 1987, are found to be perpetrators of sexual or physical      
   abuse of minors under 18  years  of  age.   Requires  the  appropriate      
   regional  superintendent  of  schools  or  the State Superintendent of      
   Education to initiate proceedings for the suspension or revocation  of      
   the  teaching  or  administrative  certificates  of such perpetrators.      
   Also amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 to require  the  Department      
   of State Police to include in its background investigation report to a      
   school  district  covering  a  person  who applies for school district      
   employment  information  reported  by  a  court  to   the   Department      
   concerning  the  court's  determination  that  such  person  inflicted      
   physical or sexual abuse upon a minor.  Effective immediately.
