Short description: CD CORR-CONTACT VISITS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that beginning January 1, 1999, a prisoner in a Department of Corrections facility shall not be permitted contact visits if he or she is classified as a Class C grade inmate as defined by the Department or if the prisoner is housed in a segregated part of the facility for disciplinary reasons. Provides that a prisoner in a Department facility shall not be permitted contact visits for one year after being found in possession of illegal drugs or failing or refusing a test for the presence of illegal drugs in his or her body while incarcerated. FISCAL NOTE, (Dpt. of Corrections) The corrections population impact will be none, but the fiscal impact is $1,000,000 to $6,000,000 in construction costs.
