House Sponsors: GILES. Short description: ELEC CD-ABSENTEE BALLOTS-PANEL Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Election Code. Requires the county board to approve special absentee voting panels of 3 judges each. Provides that absentee voters' ballots may be tabulated at the central counting location after the polls have closed by a special absentee voting panel. States that absentee voters' ballots returned after the closing of the polls shall be kept unopened for 2 months and then destroyed in a like manner as the used ballots. Allows each political party, candidate, and qualified civic organization to have one pollwatcher present for each special absentee voting panel.
