Senate Sponsors: WALSH,T-DEMUZIO. House Sponsors: DEERING-BIGGINS-CURRY,JULIE Short description: DPA-PUBLIC ASST RECOV FUND Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Public Aid Code. Provides that after June 30, 1998, the Public Assistance Recoveries Trust Fund (now held by the State Treasurer as ex officio custodian outside the State treasury) shall be held as a special fund in the State treasury. Provides that after June 30, 1998, disbursements from the fund (now by warrants drawn by the State Comptroller on vouchers from the Department of Public Aid) shall be subject to appropriations from the fund to the Department of Public Aid. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that disbursements from the Public Assistance Recoveries Trust Fund for only the following purposes are subject to appropriations: (i) payment of certain administrative expenses relating to determination and enforcement of relatives' support responsibilities, (ii) payment of fees to persons or agencies for activities relating to collection of moneys owed to the State, and (iii) disbursements to attorneys or advocates for legal representation in appeals of claims for SSI benefits. FISCAL NOTE (Treasurer Office) SB 684 will have no impact on the State's resources. STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE (DCCA) SB 684 fails to create a State mandate.
