1 AN ACT to amend the Airport Authorities Act by changing
2 Section 6.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Airport Authorities Act is amended by
6 changing Section 6 as follows:
7 (70 ILCS 5/6) (from Ch. 15 1/2, par. 68.6)
8 Sec. 6. Powers of the board, first meeting, by-laws,
9 etc. The Board of Commissioners of an Authority shall
10 possess and exercise all of its legislative and executive
11 powers. Within thirty days after the appointment of the
12 initial commissioners, the board shall meet and elect a
13 chairman. It shall then also select a secretary, treasurer
14 and such officers or employees as it deems expedient or
15 necessary for the accomplishment of its corporate objects,
16 none of whom need be a member of the board. The board at
17 said meeting by ordinance shall define the first and
18 subsequent fiscal years of the Authority, and shall adopt a
19 corporate seal and by-laws, which shall determine the times
20 for the annual election of officers and of other regular and
21 special meetings of the board, and shall contain the rules
22 for the transaction of other business of the Authority and
23 for amending such by-laws.
24 Each commissioner of any such Authority shall devote such
25 time to the duties of such office as the faithful discharge
26 thereof may require, and shall be compensated for such
27 services upon such basis as the board of commissioners of
28 such Authority shall provide by ordinance, and each
29 commissioner shall also be reimbursed actual expenses
30 incurred in the performance of such official duties,
31 provided, however, in airport authorities having a population

1 of not more than 500,000 the compensation for services of any
2 commissioner shall not exceed $150.00 in any one month for
3 services within the corporate limits of such Authority or
4 within a distance of 50 miles from such corporate limits, and
5 provided, further, that in airport authorities having a
6 population of more than 500,000, the compensation for
7 services of any commissioner shall not exceed the sum of
8 $10,000.00 per annum.
