1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act is amended
5 by changing Section 4 as follows:
6 (410 ILCS 80/4) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 8204)
7 Sec. 4. Smoking in public places; exceptions. No person
8 shall smoke in a hospital, ambulatory surgical treatment
9 center, post-surgical recovery center, nursing home,
10 dentist's or physician's office, or any other health care
11 provider or facility. No person shall smoke in any other a
12 public place except in that portion of a public place which
13 may be established and posted under Section 5 as a smoking
14 area. This prohibition does not apply in cases in which an
15 entire room or hall is used for a private social function and
16 seating arrangements are under the control of the sponsor of
17 the function and not of the proprietor or person in charge of
18 the place. Furthermore, this prohibition shall not apply to
19 factories, warehouses and similar places of work not usually
20 frequented by the general public.
