Amend House Bill 1747 on page 1 by 3 replacing lines 16 through 18 with the following: 4 "(a) After December 31, 2000, a person providing 5 emergency medical dispatch services for an emergency medical 6 telephone system must be certified by the National academy of 7 Emergency Medical Dispatch (NAEMD) and must utilize a NAEMD 8 approved Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) protocol for 9 the evaluation, response coding, and telephone help provided 10 to each caller requesting emergency medical assistance. In 11 addition, the MPDS approved by the system medical director, 12 including its questions, care instructions, and coding 13 protocols, shall be used intact. However, the various mobile 14 responses assigned to each clinical dispatch code shall be 15 decided locally by dispatch agencies with written approval of 16 the system medical director. Dispatch agencies shall provide 17 for accurate and appropriate use of the MPDS protocol by 18 initiating a medical dispatch quality assurance program that 19 meets standards defined by ASTM 1560-94 (Standard Practice 20 for Emergency Medical Dispatch Management), contains an 21 ongoing medical call review process, and is approved by the 22 system medical director. The medical call review process 23 shall utilize the minimum scoring standards set by the NAEMD. 24 ".
