1 AN ACT to amend the Election Code by changing Section
2 8-1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
6 Section 8-1 as follows:
7 (10 ILCS 5/8-1) (from Ch. 46, par. 8-1)
8 Sec. 8-1. Application of Article. The nomination of all
9 candidates for members of the General Assembly by all
10 political parties as defined in Section 8-2 of this Article
11 shall be made in the manner provided in this Article 8 and
12 not otherwise.
13 The name of no person, nominated by a party required
14 hereunder to make nominations of candidates for members of
15 the General Assembly shall be placed upon the official ballot
16 to be voted at the general election as a candidate unless
17 such person shall have been nominated for that such office
18 under the provisions of this Article 8.
