 1        AN ACT to amend  the  School  Code  by  changing  Section
 2    17-2.5 and repealing Section 17-2.6.

 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section 5.   The  School  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 6    Section 17-2.5 as follows:

 7        (105 ILCS 5/17-2.5) (from Ch. 122, par. 17-2.5)
 8        Sec. 17-2.5.  Tax for tort immunity and health insurance.
 9     The  school  board  of any district may by proper resolution
10    levy an annual tax upon the value  of  the  taxable  property
11    within   its  territory  as  equalized  or  assessed  by  the
12    Department of Revenue at a  rate  that  will  produce  a  sum
13    sufficient  to pay the cost of settlements or judgments under
14    Section 9-102 of  the  Local  Governmental  and  Governmental
15    Employees  Tort Immunity Act, as now or hereafter amended, to
16    pay the costs of protecting itself or its  employees  against
17    liability,  property  damage or loss, including all costs and
18    reserves of being  a  member  of  an  insurance  pool,  under
19    Section  9-103 of that Act, to pay the costs of and principal
20    and interest on bonds issued under Section 9-105 of that Act,
21    to pay tort judgments or settlements under Section  9-104  of
22    that   Act   to   the  extent  necessary  to  discharge  such
23    obligations, and to pay the  cost  of  risk  care  management
24    programs in accordance with Section 9-107 of that Act, and to
25    pay for health insurance premiums for school employees.

28        Section  10.   The  School  Code  is amended by repealing
29    Section 17-2.6.

 1        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
 2    becoming law.
