91_HB2635 LRB9100227ACsb 1 AN ACT concerning aerobic instructors. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 1. This Act may be cited as the Aerobic 5 Instructor Hiring Act. 6 Section 2. The practice as an aerobic instructor in the 7 State of Illinois is hereby declared to affect the public 8 health, safety, and welfare and to be subject to regulation 9 and control in the public interest. It is further declared 10 to be a matter of public interest and concern that aerobic 11 instructors merit and receive the confidence of the public 12 and that only qualified persons be authorized to practice as 13 aerobic instructors in the State of Illinois. 14 Section 3. As used in this Act: 15 (a) "Health club" means any person or business entity 16 offering physical fitness services as defined in the Physical 17 Fitness Services Act. 18 (b) "Aerobic instructor" means an individual who leads 19 classes in aerobic exercises or aerobic dance or instructs 20 others in the performance of aerobic exercises or aerobic 21 dance. 22 Section 4. No health club shall hire a person as an 23 aerobic instructor unless that person: 24 (a) has participated in at least 50 hours of aerobic 25 exercises or aerobic dance sessions; and 26 (b) has demonstrated proficiency in aerobic exercise or 27 aerobic dance to the health club supervisor.
