91_HB3438 LRB9111172DJcd 1 AN ACT concerning adoption. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Adoption Act is amended by changing 5 Section 4 as follows: 6 (750 ILCS 50/4) (from Ch. 40, par. 1505) 7 Sec. 4. Jurisdiction and venue. An adoption proceeding 8 may be commenced in the circuit court of the county in which 9 petitioners reside, or the county in which the person to be 10 adopted resides, or was born, or the county in which the 11 parents of thatsuchperson reside, provided, however, if an 12 agency has acquired the custody and control of a child and 13 such agency is authorized to consent to the adoption of such 14 child, the proceeding may be commenced in any county, and 15 provided further that if a guardian of the person of such 16 child has been appointed by a court of competent 17 jurisdiction, the proceeding may be commenced in any county. 18 (Source: Laws 1965, p. 3308.)
