1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 3-600.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 3-600 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/3-600) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-600)
8 Sec. 3-600. Requirements for issuance of special plates.
9 (a) The Secretary of State may shall not issue a series
10 of special plates unless applications, as prescribed by the
11 Secretary, have been received for 10,000 plates of that
12 series; except that the Secretary of State may prescribe some
13 other required number of applications if that number is
14 sufficient to pay for the total cost of designing,
15 manufacturing and issuing the special license plate.
16 (b) The Secretary of State, upon issuing a new series of
17 special license plates, shall notify all law enforcement
18 officials of the design, color and other special features of
19 the special license plate series.
20 (c) This Section shall not apply to special license
21 plate categories in existence on the effective date of this
22 amendatory Act of 1990, or to the Secretary of State's
23 discretion as established in Section 3-611.
