3 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Joint Resolution
4 Constitutional Amendment 4 on page 1, by replacing lines 15
5 through 26 with the following:
6 "District. Immediately following each decennial
7 redistricting, the General Assembly by law shall divide the
8 Legislative Districts as equally as possible into two three
9 groups. During each ten-year period, beginning with the
10 general election in 2002, Senators from one group shall first
11 be elected for terms of six years and then for terms of four
12 years, four years and two years; Senators from the second
13 group, for terms of four years, two years and four years; and
14 Senators from the other third group shall first be elected,
15 for terms of two years, four years and then for terms of six
16 four years. The Legislative Districts in each group shall be
17 distributed substantially equally over the State.".
