Amend House Joint Resolution 4 Constitutional Amendment 14 as follows: 5 on page 1, by replacing lines 12 through 25 with the 6 following: 7 "(ILCON Art. VI, Sec. 11) 8 SECTION 11. ELIGIBILITY FOR OFFICE 9 No person shall be eligible to be a Judge or Associate 10 Judge unless that personheis a United States citizen, is a 11 licensed attorney-at-law of this State, has been licensed as 12 an attorney-at-law for at least 10 years, and is a resident 13 of the unit which selects him or her. The requirement that an 14 attorney's period of licensure must be at least 10 years 15 applies only to persons initially elected or appointed as a 16 Judge or an Associate Judge after the effective date of this 17 Constitutional Amendment of 2000. No change in the 18 boundaries of a unit shall affect the tenure in office of a 19 Judge or Associate Judge incumbent at the time of such 20 change. 21 (Source: Illinois Constitution.)".
