91_HR0013 LRB9100092KSgc 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The safety and welfare of children are of the 3 utmost concern to this Body; and 4 WHEREAS, It is safer for a child to be seated with his or 5 her parent or parents when riding on public transportation 6 than for the child to be separated from his or her parent or 7 parents or forced to remain standing; and 8 WHEREAS, It is safer when parents with children and 9 pregnant women park near the front of parking lots, thereby 10 decreasing the distance required to walk amongst moving 11 vehicles; therefore, be it 12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 13 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 14 we urge all providers of public transportation within the 15 State of Illinois to create and provide access to priority 16 seating for children and their parents; and be it further 17 RESOLVED, That children and their parents should have 18 access to this priority seating before the general 19 population; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That we urge all units of local and State 21 government, along with all business entities located within 22 the State of Illinois, to create and provide access to 23 priority parking spaces for pregnant women and parents with 24 children; and be it further 25 RESOLVED, That these priority parking spaces should be 26 located as close to building entrances as reasonably 27 possible, not including those parking spaces already reserved 28 for disabled individuals.
