91_HR0069 LRB9104084CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The agriculture industry in the great State of 3 Illinois is of primary importance to the economy of the State 4 and is an integral part of the educational process of our 5 State's youth; and 6 WHEREAS, The youth of our State need current, up-to-date, 7 technological background in the importance of agriculture in 8 their everyday lives and of the vast array of career 9 opportunities available to them in the agriculture industry; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, The educational staff of our schoools desire and 12 need opportunities for personal and professional experiences 13 of and about the agriculture industry in Illinois, and 14 furthermore can then share these experiences with all of 15 their students; and 16 WHEREAS, John Kellogg, Yorkville and past director of the 17 Illinois Pork Producers Association, was instrumental in 18 developing the first "TEACHERS ON AN AGRISCIENCE BUS" program 19 in 1991, with the total sponsorship of the initial two-day 20 program provided by the Illinois Pork Producers Association; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, The "FIRST ANNUAL TEACHERS ON AN AGRISCIENCE 23 BUS" program was received with such enthusiasm and recognized 24 as a program providing great educational value to teaching 25 staff in Dupage County, that the Illinois Pork Producers 26 Association has provided primary sponsorship for similar 27 programs in succeeding years through 1999; and 28 WHEREAS, 330 teachers, school administrators, and 29 counselors have participated in the first eight years of the 30 program, reaching an estimated 35,000 elementary through high 31 school students, with new experiences and background in the -2- LRB9104084CBcb 1 field of today's agriculture; and 2 WHEREAS, Additional co-sponsorship is currently being 3 provided by agriculture education advocates, including the 4 American Dairy Association of Illinois, the Dupage County 5 Fair Association, the Dupage County Farm Bureau, the Dupage 6 County Regional Office of Education, the Illinois Beef 7 Association, the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association, 8 Naperville Community Unit School District 203, and the 9 Wheatland Plowing Match Association; and 10 WHEREAS, John F. Bushman, Agriscience Instructor, 11 Naperville North High School, has served as the coordinator 12 of this program, with the assistance of Mary Ann Bobosky and 13 Skip Paulson of Naperville Community Unit School District 14 203, Mike Ashby of Dupage County Farm Bureau, Cindy Langemack 15 of Dupage County Regional Office of Education, and John 16 Kellogg of Kellogg Hog Farms; therefore, be it 17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 18 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 19 we recognize the efforts of the sponsors and coordinators of 20 the "Teachers on an Agriscience Bus" program and commend them 21 for their contributions to agriculture education in Dupage 22 County; and be it further 23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 24 presented to the sponsors and coordinators of the "Teachers 25 on an Agriscience Bus" program.
