1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to acknowledge events within the
4 State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, The 15th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Casino Fling Day
6 will be held on April 24, 1999 at Navy Pier in Chicago;
7 Casino Fling Day is held for the benefit of the Greater
8 Illinois Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has
9 raised over $1.4 million since its beginning in 1984; and
10 WHEREAS, Cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic
11 disorder among Caucasians, with 30,000 children and young
12 adults in North America afflicted by the disease; and
13 WHEREAS, In 1955 the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was
14 founded to raise money for research and to find a cure for
15 this disease; and
16 WHEREAS, Cystic Fibrosis Casino Fling Day helps the
17 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in its attempt to "Invest in
18 research...Buy back life"; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we declare April 24, 1999 to be Cystic Fibrosis Casino Fling
22 Day in the State of Illinois; we congratulate the Cystic
23 Fibrosis Foundation for their hard work and dedication to
24 finding a cure for this deadly disease; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to Ashton Chase, Executive Director of the Greater
27 Illinois Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
