91_HR0104 LRB9105814CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Ralph J. Loyd of Greenville on February 4, 4 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, An active member of the Greenville Fire 6 Department, Mr. Loyd answered a call and drove his truck to 7 the fire, the last time he would do so; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Loyd was born in Greenville on September 18, 9 1908, the son of Lee and Anna White Loyd; he married the 10 former Helen M. Hentz on February 8, 1929; she preceded him 11 in death on February 26, 1995; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Loyd drove 20 accident free years for the 13 Purple Swan which later became Greyhound Bus Company; he 14 operated Lee Loyd and Sons Trucking with his father and later 15 owned the company; he farmed until his retirement in 1969, 16 and in retirement he drove for DeMoulin Brothers, Inc.; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Loyd was a member of the Greenville Masonic 18 Lodge 245 AF&AM and a member of the First United Methodist 19 Church; and 20 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 21 and friends, especially his son, Van Loyd; his daughter, Ann 22 Strang; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; 23 therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 26 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Ralph J. Loyd and 27 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and 28 be it further 29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 30 presented to the family of Ralph J. Loyd.
