91_HR0137 LRB9106325KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans 3 will present its annual "Dante Award" on April 12, 1999; this 4 year there will be two awards presented, with one going to 5 Paul J. Ciolino; and 6 WHEREAS, Paul J. Ciolino is a lifelong resident of the 7 Chicago area and the owner of Paul J. Ciolino & Associates, 8 Inc. and Dearborn Process Service; Mr. Ciolino specializes in 9 complex criminal defense and has helped five men find freedom 10 from death row within the State of Illinois; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Ciolino is licensed in the State of 12 Illinois, as well as Louisiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin; he is a 13 Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified International 14 Investigator, a Board Certified Forensic Examiner, and a 15 Certified Legal Investigator; and 16 WHEREAS, Paul J. Ciolino has given speeches on many 17 investigative topics, from child homicide, sexual abuse, 18 debunking experts, repressed memories, and death penalty 19 investigations; and 20 WHEREAS, He is a veteran of the United States Army, and 21 the former chief investigator of the child homicide team for 22 the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Ciolino is an adjunct lecturer at the Medill 24 School of Journalism at Northwestern University; he is a 25 co-founder and primary instructor on Investigative Tactics at 26 the Annual Wrongful Conviction and Death Penalty Conference 27 held at Northwestern Law School; and 28 WHEREAS, He is the co-author of the textbook "Advanced 29 Forensic Civil Investigations", as well as a criminal defense 30 textbook to be published in the summer of 1999; he is the 31 three time winner of the National Association of Legal -2- LRB9106325KBkb 1 Investigator's annual Editor-Publisher Award; he also makes 2 frequent appearances on the CNN show "Burden of Proof"; and 3 WHEREAS, He is the past president of the National 4 Association of Legal Investigators; he is on the Board of 5 Directors for the Council of International Investigators, and 6 the first Vice President of the Special Agents Association in 7 Chicago; he is a member of the National Association of 8 Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Illinois State Bar Association, 9 the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the 10 American College of Forensic Examiners; therefore, be it 11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 12 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 13 we congratulate Paul J. Ciolino on being named one of the two 14 recipients of the 1999 Dante Award, presented by the Joint 15 Civic Committee of Italian Americans; and be it further 16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 17 presented to Mr. Paul J. Ciolino.
