1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Alicia Loepker, a junior
4 at Triad High School in St. Jacob, Illinois, on being named
5 to the John Philip Sousa National Honors Band; and
6 WHEREAS, The John Philip Sousa National Honors Band is
7 comprised of top performing students from around the country,
8 selected for being top performers in local, district, and
9 state level music programs; the students will congregate in
10 Washington, D.C. in May to begin practicing for their concert
11 to be held on May 8; and
12 WHEREAS, Alicia began her musical career on the alto
13 saxophone but later changed to tenor saxophone; Alicia
14 auditioned into the first chair position in the SIU-E
15 Bi-State Honor Band and the Kansas University Summer Honor
16 Band; she auditioned with the IMEA All-District Band 3
17 consecutive years; and
18 WHEREAS, Alicia auditioned into the IMEA All-State Honors
19 Band her first eligible year; she has worked with Sarah
20 Fincham and Dr. Hinson at SIU-E; Alicia has scored top
21 ratings at IGSMA and IHSA Solo/Ensemble contests; Alicia is
22 enrolled in honors classes at THS; and
23 WHEREAS, Upon graduation she plans to continue her
24 studies in a university music program; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Alicia Loepker on being selected for the John
28 Philip Sousa National Honors Band; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Alicia Loepker, along with our sincere regards.
