91_HR0211 LRB9106591CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Child abuse prevention is a community problem, 3 and finding solutions depends on involvement among people 4 throughout the community including the courts; and 5 WHEREAS, Statistics of children who are abused and 6 neglected escalate each year; and 7 WHEREAS, The effect of child abuse is an issue of great 8 importance to all communities and needs to be addressed by 9 all Illinoisians; and 10 WHEREAS, Effective child abuse prevention programs 11 succeed because of partnerships created among the courts, 12 social service agencies, schools, religious organizations, 13 law enforcement agencies, and the business communities; and 14 WHEREAS, Parents Anonymous, a prevention program offering 15 positive alternatives to help break the cycle of abuse, is 16 sponsoring the Illinois Blue Bow Campaign to heighten 17 awareness of the need to support families; and 18 WHEREAS, All citizens should become more aware of child 19 abuse and prevention within the community and become involved 20 in supporting parents to raise their children in a safe, 21 nurturing environment; therefore, be it 22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 23 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 24 we recognize and designate the third week of April as Blue 25 Bow Week and April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and call 26 upon all citizens to increase their participation in efforts 27 to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the communities 28 in which we live; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to Parents Anonymous.
