91_HR0212 LRB9106590CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Walter Holan of Morgan Park on December 3, 4 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Holan was secretary of the Outdoor 6 Advertising Association of America; he also was a member of 7 the Employee Benefit Committee of the U.S. Chamber of 8 Commerce in Washington, D.C.; and 9 WHEREAS, He retired in 1987 as president of the Profit 10 Sharing Council of America; he testified often before the 11 House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance 12 Committee, and lobbied successfully for 401(k) provisions in 13 the U.S. Tax Code; and 14 WHEREAS, More recently, he served as vice president of 15 the Hegewisch Airport Opponents and was actively involved 16 with the American Association of Retired Persons; and 17 WHEREAS, He received an award from the National 18 Conference of Christians and Jews for promoting racial 19 harmony; and 20 WHEREAS, A loving father, he will be missed by his family 21 and friends, especially his daughters, Catherine and Laura; 22 his sons, Michael, James, David, and Mark; and nine 23 grandchildren; therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 26 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Walter Holan and 27 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and 28 be it further 29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 30 presented to the family of Walter Holan.
