91_HR0240 LRB9106652KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to honor beloved lifelong member of the 4 Lilydale Community and faithful community servant Dolores 5 Jackson Morris; and 6 WHEREAS, Dolores Jackson Morris graduated from Chicago 7 public schools, real estate school, and later graduated from 8 Chicago State University, earning her BA degree; and 9 WHEREAS, Dolores Jackson Morris freely used her valuable 10 time and her talent for the betterment of Lilydale; and 11 WHEREAS, Dolores Jackson Morris was an astute 12 businesswoman, operating various business enterprises around 13 the old Lilydale Community in tandem with civic and church 14 services; and 15 WHEREAS, Dolores Jackson Morris served as President of 16 the Old Timers of Lilydale Community Organization, Inc. and 17 founded the Old Timers of Lilydale Neighborhood Festival in 18 Abbott Park; therefore, be it 19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 20 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 21 we pay our honor in remembrance of Mrs. Dolores Jackson 22 Morris and our respect to the entire Jackson and Morris 23 family, including the sisters of Dolores Jackson Morris, 24 Aurelia Jackson Simpson, Beverly Jackson Johnson, and Esther 25 Jackson Melvin; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That we honor the commitment and dedication 27 Mrs. Dolores Jackson Morris displayed in working for the 28 betterment of the old Lilydale Community; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 30 presented to the family of Dolores Jackson Morris, the -2- LRB9106652KBkb 1 Curator of African-American History and Literature at the 2 Carter G. Woodson Regional Library, to be added to Mrs. 3 Morris' "Lilydale Papers," and placed in the records of the 4 Old Timers of Lilydale Community Organization, Inc.
