1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of
4 this State who make outstanding contributions to society; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that John A. Mau
6 has announced his retirement as Principal of Oak Glen
7 Elementary School in Lansing, Illinois, after fourteen years
8 of dedicated service; a retirement dinner will be held on
9 June 4, 1999; and
10 WHEREAS, John A. Mau received Bachelor's Degree in
11 Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University at
12 Carbondale and his Master's Degree in Education from the
13 University of Illinois at Urbana; and
14 WHEREAS, He taught at several schools; he became
15 Principal of Oak Glen Elementary School in July of 1985; and
16 WHEREAS, He was supported throughout his public and
17 private life by his wife, Diane, his children, and his
18 grandchildren; and
19 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and advice was a great
20 influence on his students, and he soon earned the respect and
21 affection of students, teachers, and staff; and
22 WHEREAS, John A. Mau has contributed in many ways to the
23 Oak Glen Elementary School and its students; therefore be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate John A. Mau for thirty-six years of
27 outstanding service in education, that we commend him for his
28 dedication to his profession and to his students, and that we
29 extend to him our sincere best wishes for the future; and be
30 it further

2 presented to him as an expression of our respect and esteem.
