1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Harry Twickler of Chicago will celebrate the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage this year; and
9 WHEREAS, Harry Twickler and the former Shirley McLaughlin
10 were united in holy matrimony on September 17, 1949 at St.
11 Frances DePaula Church in Chicago; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of four daughters
13 and two sons and the proud grandparents of seven
14 grandchildren; and
15 WHEREAS, Harry Twickler retired from Marsh McClennon
16 after many years of service; Shirley Twickler has been
17 volunteering for many years and still has not retired; she is
18 a member of the City of Chicago Senior Hall of Fame and has
19 received outstanding volunteer awards from A.A.R.P.; Harry
20 has long been an active member of the Kiwanis and his parish,
21 St. Cajetan; and
22 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
23 highest plateaus when a couple such as Harry and Shirley
24 Twickler celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
25 WHEREAS, They stand as examples of the best of our
26 society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
27 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
28 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
29 world; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Harry Twickler on the occasion
3 of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them
4 for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with
5 children and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that
6 we wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be
7 it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
