91_HR0539 LRB9110588KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Keith 4 M. Bell of Bement, Illinois, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell was born on June 12, 1921 in 6 Decatur, Illinois; his parents were William Channing Bell and 7 Mabel McLaughlin Bell; on June 16, 1946 he married Ruth Marie 8 Gragg in Decatur, Illinois; and 9 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell received his early education in 10 the Decatur school system and later graduated from high 11 school in Bement; he attended Illinois Commercial College and 12 the University of Illinois; during World War II he served 13 with the United States Army; he was stationed at Headquarters 14 Mediterranean Base Sect., Oran, North Africa; Allied Force 15 Headquarters in Caserta, Italy; Headquarters Southern Line of 16 Communications, Dijon, France; and Headquarters European 17 Theater of Operations in Paris, France; in Paris he served 18 directly under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower; 19 and 20 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell returned from the service and 21 joined his father at the Bell Insurance Agency; in 1957 he 22 joined with Lew Wilkinson and formed the Bell and Wilkinson 23 Agency; and 24 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell was a member of the Bement United 25 Methodist Church; he served as a volunteer fireman for the 26 Bement Fire Protection District; he was a village trustee for 27 8 years; he was a 50-year member of the Albert Parker Post 28 620 American Legion; he was a 45-year member of Bement 29 Masonic Lodge 365; he was a member of the board of the Bement 30 Veterans Memorial in 1999; and many other groups and 31 organizations; and -2- LRB9110588KBkb 1 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell will be remembered for his love of 2 photography; his office wall had many photos showing the 3 history of Bement; and 4 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell is survived by his wife, Ruth; his 5 son, William H. Bell and his wife, Linda; his daughter, 6 Barbara Pittman and her husband, Mark; his grandchildren, 7 William M. Bell, Brian Bell, and Erin Pittman; and his close 8 family member, William F. McManus; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 10 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 11 we extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of 12 Keith M. Bell; in this time of loss may a sense of peace be 13 found; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 15 presented to the family of Keith M. Bell.
