1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Alfred Mayer of Windsor, Illinois, will celebrate the
8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Alfred and Rose Mayer were united in holy
10 matrimony on December 14, 1949 at the Old State Capitol
11 Building in Springfield by Judge Benjamin J. DeBoice; and
12 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Susan and Scott
13 and the proud grandparents of five grandchildren; and
14 WHEREAS, Rose Mayer is a homemaker; Alfred Mayer is a
15 farmer; he is a veteran of the United States Navy and a
16 survivor of the Normandy Invasion; he serves on the Windsor
17 City Council and is a member of the American Legion; and
18 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
19 highest plateaus when a couple such as Alfred and Rose Mayer
20 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
21 WHEREAS, They stand as examples of the best of our
22 society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
23 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
24 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
25 world; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mayer on the occasion of
29 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
30 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children

1 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
2 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
3 further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
