1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House are pleased to
3 recognize Illinois organizations that have distinguished
4 themselves in service to their communities and the State; and
5 WHEREAS, The One Church One Child Adoption Advisory
6 Program is a distinguished group of ministers who are helping
7 to secure permanent families for children waiting to be
8 adopted; this program has a twenty year credible history in
9 the State of Illinois for assisting in the placement of
10 African-American children entering the child welfare system;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, The One Church One Child program was organized
13 in Illinois in 1980; it is a community outreach initiative
14 that recruits adoptive and foster families for children who
15 are wards of the State; though working on behalf of all
16 waiting children, regardless of race, One Church One Child
17 especially works to help find adoptive and foster homes for
18 the increasing number of African-American children in the
19 child welfare system; and
20 WHEREAS, Created by a coalition of African-American
21 ministers and child welfare administrators, the program's
22 guiding vision is that churches can play a pivotal role in
23 helping find loving families for waiting children; and
24 WHEREAS, As their name indicates, they look for each
25 church to provide at least one family to adopt or become a
26 foster parent to at least one waiting child; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we applaud the One Church One Child Adoption Advisory Program
30 and wish them every success in their future endeavors; and be
31 it further
