1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the House of
3 Representatives that the Blind Service Association is
4 celebrating its 75th Anniversary at a "Star Gazers" gala to
5 be held on May 6, 2000 at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, The Association has been serving the blind and
8 visually impaired for the past 75 years and focuses on
9 programs to enrich the lives of the blind and visually
10 impaired; and
11 WHEREAS, The Association's programs include a reading
12 service in which clients can come to six sites for reading;
13 and when the elderly cannot travel, readers are provided at
14 their homes; and
15 WHEREAS, The Blind Service Association provides
16 scholarships so students can continue their education and
17 provides field trips to plays and to concerts; and
18 WHEREAS, The gifts the Association gives to the blind and
19 visually impaired are unforgettable; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22 we congratulate the Blind Service Association on its 75th
23 Anniversary; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the Blind Service Association.
