91_HR0683 LRB9113511KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives 4 of citizens of the State of Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Jack Tate, President of First Trust Bank of 6 Shelbyville, will retire in March of 2000, after 40 years in 7 the banking business; and 8 WHEREAS, Jack Tate attended Sparks Business College in 9 Shelbyville; and 10 WHEREAS, In July of 1960 Jack Tate began his career in 11 banking, filing checks in the bookkeeping department; after 12 his first week he was transferred to the teller department; 13 in November of 1963 Jack Tate was made the bank's cashier and 14 assumed responsibilities in the lending area of the bank; 15 nine years later he was named the bank president, seeing a 16 growth from $5 million to $10 million in the bank's assets, 17 and stepping in as the bank faced a new future; and 18 WHEREAS, Under Jack Tate, the bank has undergone many 19 changes, from the early computers of the 1970s to the 20 advanced technology used today, from construction of a new 21 branch in the Johnsontowne Center to a new main bank being 22 erected in 1982, as well as other advances, such as home 23 equity loans and investment services being offered to bank 24 customers; and 25 WHEREAS, Jack Tate has served as treasurer of the 26 Shelbyville schools, as a member of the Shelbyville Hospital 27 board and Illinois Bankers Association board, and as a 28 volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce; and 29 WHEREAS, Jack Tate and his wife, Suzanne, plan to travel 30 to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Osage Beach, Missouri, their 31 favorite places to visit; Jack Tate also enjoys golf; he is -2- LRB9113511KBkb 1 considering working part time in banking or as a consultant; 2 therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we congratulate Jack Tate on his retirement from First Trust 6 Bank of Shelbyville; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to Jack Tate.
