1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Marcella Teplitz, President of the Peoria
3 Housing Authority (PHA) Board, provided the leadership
4 necessary to stop the PHA from being seized by the Department
5 of Housing and Urban Development; today the PHA has been
6 taken off the troubled list and continues to improve
7 affordable housing for the families of Peoria; and
8 WHEREAS, Marcella Teplitz was one of the first women
9 hired in the Peoria Police Department and in the nation as a
10 patrol officer; she graduated first in her class at the
11 Illinois Police Academy at the University of Illinois, and
12 qualified as an expert marksman; she was promoted to sergeant
13 and assigned to the juvenile department; she was the Manual
14 School liaison;and
15 WHEREAS, Marcella Teplitz is devoted to solving
16 neighborhood problems, so she became president of the
17 Randolph Roanoke Residential Association, and saw a
18 resolution to a dispute between the neighborhood and
19 Methodist hospital; she helped establish a revolving loan
20 fund for the neighborhood, and with the help of others, rid
21 the neighborhood of criminal elements; she is credited with
22 making the neighborhood into the historic and beautiful area
23 it is today; she truly deserves all the accolades given to
24 her; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate Marcella Teplitz on a job well done; may she
28 continue to be an example, showing what hard work and
29 leadership can accomplish; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to Marcella Teplitz.
