1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that we recognize an
3 Illinois citizen who has distinguished herself in service to
4 her community and this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Sophie "Pat" Lewis is celebrating twenty-five
6 years service to the office of State Representative Frank J.
7 Mautino, working for his father the former State
8 Representative Richard A. Mautino from 1974 to 1991, and
9 State Representative Frank J. Mautino from 1991 to the
10 present; and
11 WHEREAS, Sophie "Pat" Lewis was born in New York City on
12 the Island of Manhattan in 1928 of Ukrainian descent; her
13 father, Michael Pastuszyn, died when he was 52 years of age
14 and her mother, Anastazia, died in Spring Valley on her
15 birthday at the age of 101 years of age; and
16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewis graduated from Central Commercial
17 Business School in New York City in 1946; she worked for
18 several insurance companies in Manhattan and also for CBS
19 Television, where she planned to be a screen writer; and
20 WHEREAS, She married the late Peter N. Lewis and moved to
21 Florida where her two daughters were born; in 1970, they
22 moved to Spring Valley; and
23 WHEREAS, She is a Democratic Precinct Committee Person
24 and Bureau County Democratic Chairwoman; and
25 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewis is the loving mother of Patricia A.
26 Maunu, who works for Representative Mautino, and Felicia M.
27 Ademi; she is the proud grandmother of Steven and Alexandria
28 Lewis and William and Stephanie Losey and two
29 step-grandchildren, Andrew and Nicole Maunu; and
30 WHEREAS, Her greatest personal need is to assist people

1 in need and by working in a legislative office it brings her
2 gratification and fulfillment; and
3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewis wants to take the first flight into
4 space on a spaceship designated for senior citizens;
5 therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we congratulate Sophie "Pat" Lewis on twenty-five years of
9 dedicated service to the office of State Representative Frank
10 J. Mautino and extend our wish for future happiness; and be
11 it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Sophie "Pat" Lewis.
