1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Rex Brown of Decatur, Illinois, will celebrate the fiftieth
8 anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Rex Brown and the former Marilyn M. Brutlag were
10 united in holy matrimony on April 8, 1950, in Woodward,
11 Illinois; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown is a partner in the law firm of Brown,
13 Hawkins, Basola & Mattingley; Mrs. Brown is a homemaker and
14 an active volunteer on various projects in the community; and
15 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of Bruce L. Brown,
16 Cynthia M. Zimdar, Britt A. Brown, and Brad R. Brown; the
17 grandparents of eight, and the great-grandparents of two; and
18 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
19 highest plateaus when a couple such as Rex and Marilyn Brown
20 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
21 WHEREAS, Rex and Marilyn Brown stand as examples of the
22 best of our society, and their love and devotion to each
23 other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder to
24 all that hard work, dedication, and love can make a
25 difference in today's world; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate Rex and Marilyn Brown on the occasion of
29 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
30 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children

1 and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish
2 them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
3 further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
